Steps to Register with SoundExchange
- Create an Account: Visit the SoundExchange website (soundexchange.com) and click on the “Register” button. Create a free account by providing your personal information, including your full name, contact information, and tax identification number.
- Select Your Role: Choose whether you are registering as a sound recording owner, a featured artist, or both.
- Enter Sound Recording Details: Provide the ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) for each sound recording you want to register. You can find the ISRC code on the physical packaging of your recording or from your record label.
- Submit Artist Information: For each sound recording, identify the featured artists and their respective roles (lead vocalist, background vocalist, etc.).
- Verify Ownership: If you are the sound recording owner, provide documentation to prove your ownership, such as a contract or a letter from your record label.
- Pay Registration Fees: SoundExchange charges a one-time registration fee for new registrants. The fee varies depending on your role and the number of sound recordings you register.
- Review and Submit: Carefully review all the information you have provided and make any necessary corrections. Once you are satisfied, submit your registration.
